Project Description
1920 Plantation-Style Home Restoration and Full Renovation
Traditional Homes of Georgia LLC was contracted to restore and modernize a 1920 Plantation-style home that had been neglected for more than a generation. This full-scale renovation required extensive structural correction, functional upgrades, and a thoughtful design approach to bring the property back to life while preserving its historic character. Projects of this magnitude require long-term planning, structural expertise, and disciplined execution, applying the same foundational principles used in comprehensive residential construction, which are central to our home building services.
Structural Corrections and Layout Reconfiguration
The renovation began with leveling the main-level concrete slabs, correcting a four-inch elevation difference from one end of the home to the other. Once the structure was stabilized, the entire main level was gutted to allow for a complete reconfiguration of the interior layout. Most interior walls were replaced to modernize circulation and improve functionality while maintaining architectural balance. Underground plumbing was relocated to support the new layout, and multiple new bathrooms were added, including a luxurious master bath. A new laundry room was also created on the main level to improve everyday convenience. Managing renovations of this complexity requires a coordinated, systems-based approach, which is fundamental to our home remodeling services.
Kitchen Transformation and Interior Finishes
As part of the redesign, the staircase to the second floor was relocated to optimize flow and enhance usability across levels. The kitchen underwent a complete transformation with the installation of custom cabinetry, elegant countertops, updated lighting, and new plumbing fixtures designed to support modern living while respecting the home’s historic proportions. Throughout the residence, new flooring was installed, fresh interior paint was applied, and finishes were selected to complement both the original architecture and the updated layout. This kitchen renovation exemplifies how thoughtful planning and precise execution are essential elements of successful kitchen renovations, particularly within historic homes.
Revitalizing a Historic Home for Modern Living
This renovation transformed a long-neglected property into a revitalized family home that blends the charm and craftsmanship of its 1920 origins with modern comfort, efficiency, and functionality. By carefully balancing preservation with modernization, the project delivered a residence that honors its past while supporting contemporary living and long-term value.
